Black History Month in full swing at Millfield Theatre and the Dugdale

Enfield Presents a lively programme at Millfield Theatre and the Dugdale in celebration of October's Black History Month - a month-long celebration of the culture, history and achievements of black and ethnic minority communities.

Smash hit spectacular The Magic of Motown, now in its 10th year, kicks the season off at Millfield on 4th & 5th October featuring the music of the Four Tops, Supremes, Temptations, Marvin Gaye and more! Five-star performances, dazzling dance moves and superb musicianship - a great night out promised!

The Masters of Black Comedy are back with Come Mek We Larf following last year's sold out show. Laugh the night away with the very best in African Caribbean Comedians including Wan Cee, Mr Cee, Kwaku and Judi Love.

Lover's Rock defined a generation in the late 70's and 80's and is a huge, influential sub-genre of reggae which gave women a voice in the traditionally male dominated realm of reggae. Lovers Rock icons Janet Kay, Carroll Thompson and Victor Romero Evans celebrate its golden years on 31st October in Lover's Rock Monologues., a show that reflects upon all the fashion, attitudes, influences and, of course, the music of the time.

Over at the Dugdale, the Make It Happen Organisation present a programme of films including Bessie, starring Queen Latifah, the powerful and inspirational Freedom Riders and, finally, Race which follows the story of track and field sensation Jesse Owens. For those looking for something participatory Bantu Arts will be hosting Drumming workshops on 9th October - your chance to experience the distinct rhythms of African Drumming!
