He moved to London in 1981 and has been a resident performer at The Islington Folk Club. In 1987 he took over the MC’ing and booking. He now performs in Enfield, hosting nights at the Little Green Dragon. He volunteers at the Ruth Winston Centre where he leads the RUG, Ruth’s Ukulele Group.
He has been a Mummer in Gosport, danced the Morris on the streets of London, busked with electric guitarist in the Paris metro, read poetry in Shakespeare and Co on the South Bank, flirted with alternative cabaret scene in London in the early 80’s, had his poetry published in 9 of his own books and numerous magazines and had his lyrics to “In Paris” recorded by legendary French rock band Telephone/Les Insus. He recorded the album Random Numbers with cellist Kathryn Locke. In 2009 he produced a limited-edition CD for friends of songs on ukulele, The Leaving Echo. Under the 2020 lockdown he has produced a YouTube video album of Ten Enfield Songs.
